School Profile

Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy is the first and only fully accredited and certified public academy for ski, snowboard, and other world-class sports. 

We provide a rigorous college preparatory academic program while supporting the athletic and personal goals of our students. In partnership with Ski & Snowboard Club Vail, other elite clubs, and Eagle County School District, VSSA facilitates the attainment of our students’ dreams by offering challenging academics, flexible scheduling, individualized attention, and access to world-class training.

Academic Calendar

We have two semester grading periods, and six academic courses in each semester. Our students typically have a lighter academic load during the more demanding winter months for their athletics.

Spring & Fall
  • Classes 8:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.
November to Mid-April
  • Mondays: Full day of classroom studies
  • Tuesdays through Fridays: AM training, classes 1:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

VSSA Course Progression

All incoming 9th graders are also enrolled in English 9, Biology, Health, and Study Hall, and either World History or AP Human Geography.

Our Upper School progression for graduation is the following:

English:  
English 9th, English 10th, AP English Language & Composition, AP English Literature & Composition.
 
Math: 
Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Dual Enrollment College Algebra & Trigonometry,
AP Calculus AB & BC, AP Statistics.
 
Science:  
Biology, DE Environmental Science/Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, Physics.
 
Social Studies:  
AP Human Geography (9th or 10th), World History (9th or 10th), AP US History, Government, Economics.
 
Spanish: 
Spanish 1, 2, 3, AP, 5
